We would be delighted if you can attend the next Self Management Network Scotland networking event in Glasgow on Thursday 27th April 2017. The theme of this is Networking for Change.
After two years, and with more than 480 members, we think it’s time to have a look at how we enable effective communication within the network and how you can share learning with one another.
We also want to think about “so what?” With all the self management knowledge gathered within the network, let’s think together about how we can use that knowledge to make change happen.
Together, let’s answer:
- How do we effectively share knowledge within the Self Management Network Scotland?
- How do we use this knowledge to make change happen?
Who should attend?
This event is open to anyone living or working in Scotland who is interested in furthering the self management agenda, including people:
- Living with a long term condition or disability
- Caring for someone
- Working in the third sector
- Working in a health or social care setting
- Studying or researching health and social care
- Volunteering within health and social care
It will be of particular interest to, but is not limited to, members of the Self Management Network Scotland.
What will happen on the day?
Sara Redmond, Programme Manager for the Self Management Partnership and Practice Programme at the Health and Social Care Alliance (the ALLIANCE) will open the day by sharing the aims of this event and the learning from the Self Management Network Scotland to date. This will be followed by a fast-paced session of short updates from a variety of network members facilitated by Lara Murray, the Network Officer. (Interested in delivering an update? See Provide an update below.)
Everyone will attend two workshops to explore networking for change and raising awareness about self management across Scotland. The final session will bring everyone together to share learning from the workshop sessions, agree on actions and evaluate the day.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day and there will be lots of opportunity to network with others.
What is expected of me?
We would hope you will attend and contribute where you feel comfortable. Both workshop sessions will be interactive and we will be hoping to learn from your knowledge around networking and awareness raising. You don’t need to be an expert: your views and experience are all the knowledge you need.
